ILIAS Learning Management System

Ilias is an open source learning management system offered free and is used for developing and realising web-based e- learning. The personal desktop is used for course work or for entering a virtual working group. The main page has personal items, news, mail, notes, and bookmarks. It also shows all active users of the group that are online at the moment and has a calendar and time scheduler.

The repository has resources for learning objects, courses, discussion forums, files or working groups. It also has different modes for presentation (flat view, tree view, or filter view) and an internal search engine. Ilias also has an internal news system, and a combinated PHP/Java chat. It allows cooperative learning and working on the platform without using additional tools. Users can create groups that are open for everyone or have access restrictions that can require a password.
